I have also a Cowon D2 and I have dual system... I use it with Cowon firmware v3.57 and also with Rockbox.

Rockbox is working... but in a very early stage... it's capable to play music... nicely but using browser to play the files. There isn't ID3 tag ordering yet... so there isn't a great advantage in use Rockbox... except that adds a codec to play music (MPC) and there is a more complete implementation of APE.

Anyway it's nice to have the chance to use any of both firmwares.

why ? if a new model of Cowon product or Iriver is released, does rockbox loose its appeal among old player owners ? i personally love my M6 and if rockbox appears i will buy a new m6 one for future as my nokia phone is still making calls and sms im not very interested in M8...

I find myself quoting a very old post...

Well, actually there is a suffix part. But it's not there on the dfu file; it's added on-the-fly when the firmware is being restored by DFU.

With this knowledge, I have actually been able to fully restore an M3/M6TP/SP on Linux

well we could make any steps now. thats fine that we have a dfu tool for linux. the problem is in that that we cant understand why the right test code isnt working on meizu. any way we need to expairement more with the code. or try to find some errors there. i am doing this but not to fast cause i am not an experienced C coder

yes the problem is in that the meizu feezes if you try some test code. thats something we need to descover how to push the code to meizu. maybe just rename it to m6.ebn and place in the root. or using dfu. we hadnt any luck with this. maybe you could try? =)

Dang, the Rockbox for M6 may be out before the M8. Oh well, either one satisfies me (More so the M8 though ).

If Rockbox is capable of play mp3 without stutter in M6 it will be really a tremendous success... I'm starting to look for a second hand M6 here in Chile.

Various drivers need to be written. The most useful thing would be to implement writing to the screen. Right now we can only debug by blinking the backlight
Maybe I'll start by reading the touchpad first, it should be relatively easy.

Anyone interested in helping out can download the rockbox source and start hacking. It's probably best to talk to us on IRC about it (#rockbox on irc.freenode.net)
