I think they mean that Meizu is testing it. The gravity thing is probably an accelerometer. Yes, that price is in Chinese Yuan, which is about $377.

What a freaking gyp, who would honestly pay that much for an iClone? I mean, honestly, the M8 looks great, but $400AUD is just too much for me.

It's better than the iPhone, plus it's cheaper. Don't see what your problem is. I would pay that much for a so called "iClone".

Is it just me or did it get more expensive? Unless it's for the 16gig model of course.

Yes, it did get more expensive. Not sure how much it went up though. But I believe that is the final price, so it is probably not much more than you'd pay for the beta + trade up price.

Who would, honestly, want to pay as much as they did for an iPhone?
The iPhone looks very nice, but underneath the eye-candy it is seriously lacking.

I would definitely pay this amount for the M8 and I'm actually getting SO MUCH MORE for my money than I would if I purchased the iPhone, LOL.

I will say that the iPhone "LOOKS" great, but how much are you paying for it (purchase price and subsequent contract terms plus any additional software) and what is so brilliant about the specs it offers?

The iPhone is all hype. Once all the new generation touchscreen phones begin to hit the market, the iPhone will certainly still be standing out in the crowd - but only something that will be rediculed/laughed at. Anyone who owns one is going to feel the full force of embarassment, hahaha!

Thanks for the info ydm ydm!
Iff the price will be $377 thats good news i think,
over here it means that it will be a 245 €, thats cheaper then buying an iphone 3 g (+- 525 €) and it is in a normal price rating for other ´standard´ smartphones!
So iff they keep this price and launch it rather quick I´m sure to buy

Is there any more news iff it would be possible to buy such beta phone, or any due date to launch the finished one?

It's quite sad the levels that those that do not own an iPhone or iTouch sink to in order to convince themselves they are not missing out. Normally I would dignify your babble with an elegant response but today I shall say merely:
Who are you f****** kidding? Who is ever going to get laughed at for having an iPhone? What drugs were you under when you wrote that? Even SteveMB would not say that he would be embarassed to own an iPhone. As an iPhone owner who visits this thread to keep up to date on that wonderful company, Meizu, which gave me my beloved M6, it is distressing/amusing to read all this iPhone bashing. Apple have always led the way in terms of style and fluidity within their products - the first iPod was wondered at for the clever way it arranged tracks by artist etc, and I don't think any phone will look as good as work as fluidly as the iPhone's GUI. Except for the M8 maybe, but that;'s udnerstandable as it is a top quality iClone, and Meizu are very good at making good interfaces.

I have used an iPhone 3G, and iPhone, and an iPod Touch (a friend's). Not everybody likes them, you now.

@thestrangestick:
I agree that no one will ever be laughed at for owning an iPhone. In fact it's actually the opposite, since it's such a fashion accessory.

However, I must say that the iPhone 3G UI is not fluid at all. I tried one at a local Vodafone shop, and found it sluggish, with too many annoying "loading" screens, and a very slow filling of lists (like picture thumbnails, for example). I didn't spend too much time on it, but was a bit surprised since that did not look like the smooth UI that can be seen on Apple's website. Recently I found out that everyone is complaining about that with firmware 2.0. That and firmware instability and crashes.
I guess you probably still have firmware 1.x, it you think it's fluid.

2.1 beta versions are already spreading around the net, i'm waiting for it for my iTouch.
2.0 causes my Safari to chrash on the most funny moments, video-playback is laggy too. Anyway, it's not that bad because you know that they'll fix it. I'm already glad it's been jailbreaked so soon :D Cydia is back and Installer 4 is on it's way too -> 3 ways including App Store to get your apps -> epic win.

I serieusly don't understand the critisism in this topic about the iPhone3G. Why not start critizising the m8? The list one can make up is at least the same size as with the iPhone.

My major complain with the iPhone right now that i'm actually not hearing on this forum a lot is the cracking cases. Now that is the only real issue preventing me from (potentially) buying iPhone3G because it's just not acceptable to have such problems on such an expensive phone. Let's for Apple's sake hope that an improved batch will fix this.

Yeah, the jailbroken iPhone is pretty neat.. but that doesn't change the fact that by default it is a closed device, from a company whose attitude has always been that of a control freak. That alone is a reason for me not to give them my money.

I'm under the impression that most cases of iPhone criticisms are just people throwing in their 2cents after reading comments that praise it. At least for me, I know that's the case.
Regarding the M8, there isn't really much to criticize, because it's not out yet... so far the only possible complaints are about development status and decisions. And there have been quite a few of those, I believe

Actually, this was mentioned... and yeah, it's an ugly flaw for a product such as the iPhone. What's worse is that it seems that not all users have been able to get their cracked iPhones changed. So much for Apple's reputed superior build quality and customer support.
