Why do you want a miniOne M8?

My top reasons:

Affordable
No proprietary bloated software to install
It's an cell phone and a media player (I find it inconvenient to bring two gadgets in a small pocket)
Contract free (you can use a pay-as-you go plan, all you can eat plan, and whatever carrier )

WindowsCE is a LOT more open. It is very easy to put games or programs onto your device. I would like the M8 because it has a removable battery, USB OTG, 720x480 LCD, and is unlocked. That is amazing for a device that is less than $350.

Possibly less, too, since the prices are final. I hope the M8's battery isn't as bad as the iPhone's. I mean, 2-3 hours of talk time? Huh? For a device that Apple claims to have applied for a thousand patents for? Some weird marketing strategy. On the other hand, the iPhone just looks cool. When it first came out, it was basically useless... Until you "jailbroke" it.

Let's see Windows CE, is not as "open" and "popular" as you may think, a clear example Skype it does not work under CE, but it does under Mobile

Many PPC apps are compatibles others are not, of course you can create your own using VS, but the express version of it does not support mobile devices at all..

But I do like the mega hiper high res screen, it bright and big ... just imagine the HTC diamond with it...

I honestly believe that there will be a large community behind the Meizu. It has a lot of raw power, and I'm sure some developers will take advantage of it.

Well, I'm pretty sure that MANY programs will be made for the miniOne's custom Windows CE OS, because there's no ridiculous SDK to purchase, so even the small-time developers can make software for it. Maybe we'll see some software from our own users .

You do of corse realize that it is because of Skype. Not Microsoft.

Also, WinCE is quite open to the OEMs, as much of the system is under a shared source license.

Also, think about how fast the "jailbreaking" community reacted to the iPhone OS. Look at how many unofficial third-party software that was made for it. lol, all my friends have one have a jailbroken one.

i think microsoft active sync will be required for syncing the phone but not for file transfer cause i think they said it will have a mass storage mode.

Why do I want a M8?
Because it looks gorgeous! It also sounds like it will have everything I want in a phone and because it is thin and slender, not brick shape or heavy, hehe. I also prefer touchscreen to qwerty keyboard.
Hope the final product has specs that are even better than anticipated, but maybe later versions will address any shortcomings. But, for now, I have been waiting a long time for the M8. My present phone is 5 years old, lol. I could upgrade tomorrow but I haven't fallen in love with any phone yet, except the M8. So, I'm waiting patiently to spend my money with Meizu...

Is this good or bad?... I agree with the bold sentence: in the middle of a your enjoyment listening or viewing something you like... you'll be interrupted by a cell phone call... or cell phone can be derived when your listen your media?

Beware of this... if user is a very compulsive net surfer or used to talks lots with friends to communicate how happy he is with his new gadget... probably a contract would be cheaper.

But he doesn't have to use it with one carrier for two years. You can sign a contract if you want to, but it's not necessary. $199 is the price with a contract that is a minimum of $70/month. That's the "special" plan, which is why it is so expensive. The M8 would actually be cheaper if you went through AT&T.

If it is the same price as the iPhone, then its a steal because of the much better specs. If it costs more than the iP, I'm happy to pay the extra... no problems.

In settings, you can choose what you want the phone to do, eg. automatically pause music so you can answer the phone, bank incoming calls without disturbing you for the present... and so on.

The choice should be available - contract or SIM free. I hate contracts myself, I much prefer to buy my phone outright.

Humm, nope. but it's still very affordable. In fact, it should still have the best specs/cost ratio in the market, if it comes out anytime soon... But I wonder why you suggested that absurd number.

Tell me, do you know any similar product that REALLY costs around US$199?

The main reason for me to get an M8 is that i expect it to be a very good music player like the M6. Current smartphones or music phones lack either sound quality or nice design and most of the miss a user EQ.

I want touchscreen plus good sound plus a use EQ with no need for bloated software like Itunes.

As far as I know none of the currently available phones can offer that. The M8 does

I want one because it's from Meizu, which means good audio quality. The SQ on my iPhone doesn't cut it for me.
