Doubt that will happen. Companies usually set up their booths in advance of the show opening so I doubt they will come and set up a booth later

I'll wait till I'm back from holiday (8th August) then I'll decided. If there is still no beta version around that time, I'm going to buy an iPhone. But I expect a beta version this month... Hope it's just quiet for the storm begins....

Just hoping my N73 survives a little longer.

Like a year or something :P

This is really stupid of Meizu. If they don't have anything to show yet it is looking really dark.

I might by it in the future (if it ever comes out) but if I'm gonna buy it, it will have to be AMAZING. I mean, jaw-dropping good. But the problem is, if they came out about a couple of months now, it would be awesome but they are late and the other companies and Apple are making way better phones with better technology so if they can have the technology up to date, awesome. If not, there will be a lot of disappointed fans out there.

Does Minione really ever exist? It really can take more than a year and a half to release a beta version of a device, that is yet overtaken by other REAL devices? There are only doubts about the M8, since the beginning.Meizu lost an excellent opportunity just one year ago to front the Iphone. The chance was to release the M8 before the Iphone to get the market, now is too late for this clone.

Just because the Meizu has a large screen doesn't mean it's a knock off of the iPhone. Or did Apple patent the rectangle?

It surely exists, as a product in development. A product in development is however NOT the same as a product which has been released so you can't really compare the two. Things about the m8 may change, that's what development is about.

I think Meizu did a reasonable job to distance themselves from the 100% knockoff image. Obviously it's been heavily inspired on a certain Apple product like they did with the m6/m3, but too call it a clone in it's present state may be debatable. Admitted, their first dummy photo of the phone was a pretty bad move to begin with in creating goodwill, they heavily screwed up with that.

The delays are because of a pretty obvious reason, they suck in company management. Try disagreeing with me on that one :D

OK, what was the M6 inspired by? I can see that the M3 is a knock off of the nano, but the M6 isn't a knockoff of anything.

Do we really have to go through with this everytime?

The M6 was a knock off of the ipod in many aspects.

1. The metal back on an mp3.
2. The white front.
3. The grey touch pad, even though it's a different shape.

1 + 2 + 3 is basically the design of the ipod, even if it is a different shape.

4. The menu system is similar. But more like the creative Zen Vision:M
5. They released it in a white version and a black version. Exactly like apple did.

I could go on and on but to finish off ill just quote:

The colours, design, way its laid out, advertising, even the fact they use Apples wallpapers.

The advertising even uses the same 'theme' as Apple - the reflected gradient, and even goes as far as to use the iPod Mini's multi-coloured logo design.

All that signifies how it was an inspired by device.

The biggest indicator when you turned the m6 on was the fact that it used the apple background for god sake.

How can you honestly say that it wasn't 'inspired'.

Oh and lastly this is a quote from Meizu themselves in relation to the design...

"If we're going to rip off the iPod, we're going to rip it off good".

tails2, I really hope you were joking. If you weren't joking, I'm afraid you're in the reality distortion field. You do know that Apple copied Creative's theme, right?

@tails2: I agree that the M6 is somewhat inspired by "the iPod" or (in my opinion) Apple products in general, but you are exagerating. Despite all it's inspirations, the M6 is a distinct product that can't be mistaken for an iPod. Let me throw in my 2cents:

Well, you know what.. there are even fridges that meet that description! :P
Seriously, I agree that there's a similarity, but it's not because of those points. What's really similar is the double layered casing (with the transparent protective mask), which is exactly the same as in the 1st gen iPod nano.

But 1+2+3 are not really significant. In fact, your point number 3 is actually one of the biggest differences: the iPod has it's very unique (and awkward) "click weel", which is basically 90% of it's design uniqueness. As you can see, the M6's touchpad is VERY different from that. In fact, it's as different as a touchpad could ever be, and it also has it's own uniqueness and style. Yeah, the colour scheme is the same, but Apple did not 'invent' that either.

I may be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that Meizu hired people from Creative to design the menu system. So there might be a legitimate similarity with Creative. It might also be similar to the iPod, but that would be because Apple copied Creative in the first place.

True, but that's also exactly like many other companies did. Even the Creative MuVo I bought so many years ago came in black and white versions. Samsung's players are a good example too.

I guess I already addressed colours and design.. but the point about "way it's laid out" doesn't make sense to me, could you explain?

Regarding advertising, I'm not sure if this is a valid point.. similar "themes" with reflected gradiends have been used for quite a while now, and Apple were not the first to do it.

As for the multi-coloured logo design, I just confirmed it.. yes, that's true, and it's quite a blatant logo ripoff. This is probably the only REAL ripoff in the M6 IMO

Finally, I also don't think this is a valid point: the iPod doesn't have a blue background. I understand that it's similar to the OSX default background, but that does not qualify as "ripping the iPod". Also, even Linux distributions come with similar default blue backgrounds, and no one has ever complained about those.

Wow... I can't believe it's this late already.. gotta get some sleep
