How to display chinese character...

Hi anyone can advise? Thanks.

I have tested the M6 in a local shop. I used my mp3 files for the test. I found the chinese character filename of my mp3 files can't be displayed normally but this is not happen in my PC and my china made MP4. I am considering to buy Cowon D2 which will be available in Singapore end of the month or Meizu M6. I like the M6 sound quality as compared with Cowon audio system. However other specification and features wise, Cowon is better and very expensive.

do yo u mean the ID3 tags or just the filename?
You need to be in the chinese simplified or chinese traditional language settings in order to view the chinese characters in both ID3 tags and filename.
however, if you want to have an english menu setting which can read chinese and english also, then you need to edit the CHINESE menu to ENGLISH, and select the chinese menu within the M6 player. that way, the player can display chinese titles but use an english menu properly.

My DaneElec version had no trouble displaying Chinese (both Trad. and Sim.) characters. Hope it stay that way after I update the firmwire somewhere down the line...

Chinese and Japanese characters display ok in tags and filenames using english menu. You have to use unicode in tags and filenames for it to work properly.

ooo that explains why my hand-made file tags are working but some downloaded ones are not (until I rewrite them). Thanks very much.

WinAmp supports unicode and what is even better, you can switch unicode on/off to try what will fit your usage.

sorry for bumping an old thead, but can someone explain how to ensure that your tags are done in unicode?
my M6 is displaying chinese characters fine in either chinese language setting and reads file names in chinese, but not tags.

additionally i have tags that only show u in chinese language settings and dont even show up on the computer as tagged

simplest way to get unicode is use notepad and save as unicode encoding instead of ANSI or copy and paste unicode txt from websites.

i think that the easiest way is changing the chinesse menu to english.

I use the mass tagger in Foobar. You can highlight an entire album's tracknames (ie: track 1-16), copy it and paste it into a txt file. Save it as unicode, then copy it and paste it back. Poof, all done.

um...just a question.. for example, if I want to name my album (so that the chinese characters appear on meizu m6) as 台北

(two chinese characters in unicode, as an example)...do I just edit the ID tag and paste &#21488 ; &#21271 ; [without the spaces of course, all together] ?

because on meizu...no chinese characters appear, only the unicode numbers and symbols. -_- not sure what to do...my meizu is currently in english mode
