hmm I guess some people may be hoping so much that it will be amazing that they are not actually acknowledging the fact that even on paper it has it's shortcomings and may not be able to live up to all the hype once released. Don't get me wrong I am hoping it will be great too but I am well aware that as this is Meizu's first ever phone it will no doubt have teething problems and may not be as well polished and well implemented as we all would like. I would consider myself a realist or a cautious optimist when it comes to the M8 rather than a fully blown optimist. I enjoy speculating but am also well aware that until we see, feel and use the device nothing is in any way certain. Lets just hope we are not let down.

all phones have issues at first. that's why firmware updates exist.

Of course - but: the question is: will Meizu give good support or not!

We hope, but no one knows...
SE and its m600i: I had to wait one year to be able to sync it with Vista!!!!
The firmware itself sucks - most likely due to the many branding out there.

It is quite common to provide bad support in the mobile business - I doupt Meizu will be differnt, but I hope they will!

not all se phones had the problem of (lack of) fw updates , certainly not nokia ones. they still make fw updates for my n73 which is almost 2 years old.

Well - first: Nokia is not SE.
Second: I had a Nokia, too. They did NOT update mine. They claimed it on their internet page, but it simply did not work. Just visit the Nokia forum - a lot of complains, that the fw update are not working for many other as well. It was not a crucial update, but that p***ed me off.

I do not want to flame, but the same happed to me with SE - sometimes you can update (dependent on the model number!), most times not. So some m600i still miss new features, or crash (especially mine) .

Well - to make it short: I do not belive any brand if it offers to updates. Just by my experience. I always go to a store, play around with the device, and if it crashs - forget it. If I like the new device, I will buy it, but if it have problems within 1 week I will bring it back.

I hope there will be a european online reseller for the meizu m8 - you will have 2 week of cash back warranty! If not, I will not run the risk to wast time and money.

Finally: I am 'happy', that meizu shift the release date. Hopefully, by this they can avoid such update problems. I prefere waiting 1 month longer (OK: I want to have the m8 NOW), over having a buggy phone!

i think most of the newer phones have some issues in the first couple of months, but if you're buying/using phone with the os crashes are bound to happen sooner or later. i was very pleasantly suprised to see nokia's fw updates change a lot of things, great new audio player with eq, album art, stereo widening, improved camera algorythm and many other things.as far as i know by testing most of newer nokia s60 phones, updates can completely turn your phone around. i'm not saying someone should release a buggy phone, i'm just saying that it's not that big of a deal if they plan to work on it and fix it.

well - the point is: what you do with updates, you can not apply or use?

I do not want to spend again one day with trying to update a device, what simply does not work! I also do not want to send it in. BTW: you can not even get your cash back - you bought it as it was - and have no right for updates! That was really nasty what SE wrote me!

Frankly, if Nokia or SE say: there will be updates, who is telling you, it will work for you? I do not mean the branded one, but the original phones!

Ok: you might say: better an update than nothing! But: if they offer updates, they tend to put it out buggy.

Remember good old SNES days - no updates possible, all worked fine.

Nowadays: even the X360 games needed to be fixed before you can play them without problems. For a computer that is not so crucial, as the updates most times works - but simply by the fact, that this never hold for my mobile phones, let me be sceptical in the beginning.

Well... but this really is off-topic now - sorry.

it's easy to change product code for nokia phones through nss and there are no problems wtih branded devices. dor example, you can buy an orange branded phone in uk or anywhere else, change product code to...i don't know china and get new update + chinese menu and chinese t9

Okay, so Nokia and SE don't turn out to be almighty perfect -> please adjust your expectations with Meizu's less cash, less people, less experience etc etc on that.

nobody is expecting a perfect device, imo meizu will try to make this phone as good as possible 'cause this is their first phone and they need to build up trust

I have to agree with you, Sony Ericcson is a big company, they don't care about their customers.

WHAT THE CRAP!
This is a post on a meizu m8 cutout,
not a debate over random phones.
Go do that somewhere else.
