Thanks for the tip, i am going to get some EP-630s as they are cheaper than the CX-300s around here. :D

I think you should go for Creative EP-630 or the ones you just got Sennheiser. There perfect for starters. Someting goes wrong? then you can always afford to buy another. hehe
If you want to upgrade then go for MylarOne X3 Crossroads which is very cheap considering the performance (£35).

Thats all, nice and simple. Unless you have money to waste then you can buy range of ear-phones and then decide which is best for you.

Having tried the Senneheiser CX-300's for a while now, I think that I am looking for something a bit less bassy. The UE metro.fi 2 look interesting as do the Super.Fi 3 but they are getting a bit expensive for me.

I have just upgraded to the UE Super.Fi 3. The sound quality is far better across the frequency range and they are not too bassy which was the thing that I didn't like about the CX-300s.

Maybe you wanna try $4.42 earphones?
No joke. I just bought them, and I can turn the volume up to a rate where I almost have to put them out to prevent serious damage, but the sound is still totally clear. I haven't tried expensive earphones yet (most expensive I tested being about 40$), but these are just everywhere superior to them.
The shipping is free, worldwide.
I mean, 100$+ for earphones which production costs CAN'T be over 5$? That makes no sense.
DealExtreme: $4.42 In-Ear Stereo Earbuds (3.5mm Metallic Green)
I own them. I can hardly imagine better earphones at that price, the bass is decent and not that dominant, mids and highs VERY balanced. Maybe you could try them and write a comparison with your high-end earphones?

Of course they aren't perfect though. They don't sound very vivid and a bit muffled. But still very good.

After reading up on the Creative EP-630s , the marshmallows, and a number of other earphones, I settled on the skullcandy INK'D. They're cheap, small, and sound great. So far I'm really enjoying them. They come with various sized earpieces and a small carrying bag.

I really do reccomend them. I bought them at CircuitCity for around $14 bucks including tax.

Having lots of fun with my im716's. Been using them for the past 7-8 months or so, the longest I've kept any portable phone. They stomp the E500's all day everyday.

Hi,

For those who can't bear in-ear buds and/or want simple earphones with great sound...
I've tried akg k314p and found they sound great.

Only using the eq (no bass and trebble and no 3d effects).

What should be done to have them really sound great :
1 - use them several days when brand new (the sound gets better and better)
2 - set the equalizer to this : +4 0 -2 -1 0 -1 -7 -1 0 -1
the "-7" on 5khz is probably a bit personal, because I got an over-sensitivity in about that range, so just set that specific range to what seems to match better your own perception.

cheers

I purchased the V-Moda Vibe in-ear phones about a month ago ($59 w/ coupon @ Costco) and they are great. This is my first pair of premium headphones so I don't have much to compare them to, but I'm very pleased with their performance. I'd read many reviews that indicated that they may be bass heavy and while they certainly can hit the low notes, I've found that just adjusting the bass on my M6 was enough to bring them inline.

Very pleased in deed.

Keep your eyes on amazon for cheap deals on Altec Lansing im716's. If you can pick a set up of these up for $50 do it. Remove the volume pod, solder in a resistor to each of the live leads and solder the grounds together- hey presto and you near enough have a set of Etymotic er4's (47 or 68 ohm is a good resistance)
