Grado SR60s are highly recommended for good reason!

I just picked these up, and they are really really good!

They are open cans, which means that people next to you can hear a quiet tinny version of the music, so you can't use them everywhere, and they sit on your ears, as opposed to around them, and people go to lots of trouble to make them more comfortable because of it. They are also really an old design, like... based on the 1919 antennae looking radio cans from from the first days of radio.

Despite all that, they sound really REALLY good... so much so that despite all their flaws, people still constantly recommend them. I know.. people constantly recommend everything, but really, these are recommended by people who know what they are talking about and aren't selling ads in magazines. People who have spent $1000+ on audio stuff and take their time learning and listening to all kinds of different stuff.

One other huge advantage is, despite their size, tiny little players can drive them... because they are really efficient... so they will sound good out of your player, unamped.

If you live in North America, they are $60-70 depending on the deal you get, and if you can find a shop that demos them, you should give it a try. This can be your reference for what 'good' is... as in, I thought my V-Moda vibes were 'good', but now I know what 'good' is...

... however, know that if you do... you will likely look differently at your ear buds... unless you've spent lots on em... like $300-$400 lots.
