It would be even more convenient to describe the steps which are necessary to interrupt the music update process. Can't be too hard as there is not much time to interrupt the update process
Hmm... When I tried what was in the video (holding down the 'play' key while removing the usb cable, then continuing to hold afterwards) it just turned off. The when I turned it back on, it insisted on doing a library update...
Well, the Update message never went away, so I kept holding it. Then it turned off. I'll have to experiment with it to see if there's a point where it works before turning off...

keep trying it's a little hard i know but when you will sucess just one time you will try untill you will do it always and used to stop the library update.I have 2.004.6 firmware too.
OK, so this is what I found: I'm using Ubuntu Gutsy Linux on the pc. Normal removal is to right-click on the 'usb' icon and select to 'Safely remove' before disconnecting the player. But if you do that, the procedure in the video does not work. You have to leave it mounted (normally a bad thing to do!) and use the procedure mentioned.
Here is a better method of avoiding the "Update Music Library" always processing all of your files after charging which does not require any special button presses while powering on/off:
Merci pour votre video.
Et pardon pour mon francais terrible!
you're french is good

I find this method much easier to deal with than the other button pressing methods. The original method detailed on page 1 of this thread as well as my methods have been tested on an M6 SL 8GB w/firmware 2004.3 and 2004.6.
Here is a way to fix all of the media files on your Meizu in one shot from the command line in any Windows OS so that the "Update Music Library" doesn't always process your files after only charging with the later firmwares. Note: Combined with the newer firmware versions your Meizu will still perform the "Update Music Library" process automatically if you were to copy or delete any music via the USB data sync process but at least it won't run everytime now for no reason especially after only charging.
Method A - Fixing all media files on the Meizu's flash drive:
* DO NOT COPY OR DELETE ANY FILES FROM YOUR MEIZU DURING THIS TASK.
Here is the step by step method to use (make sure to change to the appropriate drive letter to match your own Meizu) for step 3. You can also use the batch file version at the bottom of this post to do the same thing via Windows Explorer.
1. Turn On your Meizu and let it boot at least to the Meizu logo screen and then plug it in to the USB cable that is also attached to your computer.
2. In Windows click Start Menu | Run | cmd.exe (type that in and hit enter)
3. J:
4. attrib -R -S -H -A * /S /D
5. Wait for the prompt to return which means the attrib process completed.
6. Type exit.
Now we are going to test if this fixes the issue!
7. Keep the Meizu turned On but disconnect it from the computer/USB cable.
8. The "Update Music Library" message will display for a couple of seconds on the Meizu's screen but it won't actually go through any updating process as it would have previously without turing off the archive bit on the files (using the newer M6 firmwares)!
9. Now turn Off the Meizu.
10. Now connect it to the USB cable to start the charging process for a few seconds.
11. Now disconnect the USB cable and turn the Meizu On.
12. This time you should not get ANY "Update Music Library" message or update process as you would have previously without turing off the archive bit on the files (using the newer M6 firmwares)!
Method B - Fixing all media files on your computer's hard drive, that way you won't have to remember to do Method A after copying media to your Meizu:
Here is the step by step method to use (make sure to change to the appropriate drive letter and folder name to match your own computer) for steps 2. and 3. You can also use the batch file version at the bottom of this post to do the same thing via Windows Explorer.
1. In Windows click Start Menu | Run | cmd.exe (type that in and hit enter)
2. G:
3. cd\MP3
4. attrib -R -S -H -A * /S /D
5. Wait for the prompt to return which means the attrib process completed.
6. If you have your music collection spread over more than one hard drive repeat steps 1-5 again for that other location.
7. If you have any Videos or Recordings repeat steps 1-5 again for that location.
8. Type exit. 9. Now when you copy files to your Meizu you won't have the issue of having to remember to clear the archive bit from the Meizu's flash drive.
Note: The reason I added the -R -S -H switches is because I noticed that some files in my music collection had extraneous files set to read only or system (for instance any thumbs.db files) and I didn't want that to be set so we are sure to be clearing the archive bit this way by first setting all of your music files to not be read only, system or hidden. If only one of the files in my media collection had its' attrib bit set to read only then attempting to change the archive bit on that file wouldn't have worked.
For those that do not want to have to remember commands I have attached a clear.zip file which contains a file clear.bat (rename the "clear" part to whatever you want) inside which you would then copy to your Meizu's root folder (the main folder that comes just before MUSIC). You would then in Windows Explorer double-click on clear.bat from your Meizu's root folder which starts a process that sets the archive bit to off on all files on the Meizu. The window will close when it is done. When you do disconnect the USB cable the first time after copying clear.bat to the Meizu it will do an "Update Music Library" process because you DID copy a new file to the Meizu which forces the Update process to run. Any subsequent connections to the USB cable for charging or otherwise after this will be fixed and the "Update Music Library" process should not run unless you were to manipulate files on the Meizu flash drive. You can also copy clear.bat to your computer's main Music collection folder which when double-clicked from Windows Explorer would set the archive bit to off on all files in your Music collection just before copying anything new to the Meizu (this way you won't have to run the bat file from the Meizu). *After the first execution of clear.bat the clear.bat file itself will get its archive bit turned off for the future. The first time you run clear.bat it will take a while to complete since it has to go through all of your files, after that first time it will be quick.
and you think that your method is not complicated...:Di just prefer turn on the enter buton...:D but thanks for sharing.
