Audio timing out of sync with video

Hi all,

Over the last few day's i've been experimenting with converting video files to the Meizu.

I've converted VOB AVI DivX XviD etc using all the programs referred to here in the forums.

One problem I am consistently finding is that after about 20 mins of playback, the audio gets out of sync slowly with the video. After about an hour of playback, i'm 1-2 seconds adrift. I'm encoding at 20fps.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cure this, or what may be causing it?

Oh, and I'm also finding that any files in the VIDEO folder do not show up when browsing on the Meizu - anyone else finding this?

the only cure - press FF or RW once (or hold it down, therefore executing the "seek" function) and the voice will sync back with the video again! (unless the video and voice is badly out of sync, then its your encoding problem)

Since I started using the beta version of VirtualDub 1.70 with Lame 3.97 mp3 audio codec, I have not had a single audio sync problem.
Video: XVID 240x320 20.00fps 384Kbps [Video 0]
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 48000Hz stereo 192Kbps [Audio 1]

Lame 3.97 codec: HERE
VirtualDub 1.70: HERE

wow.... why such a highbitrate for video? 128 will do nicely.

richardg,

I used to have the same problem. Though audio would start synced, it would slowly un-sync itself over time. At any rate, kennyboy and others suggested running videos through a 2-pass procedure. In other words, I first run VOBs or whatever file format through Winmenc. Then I run the resultant file through Virtual Dub MPEG2.

Ever since I started doing that, all sync problems have stopped. Give it a whirl. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

heh...wish that there was a way this process could be automated? length of time isn't important, but wish that this could be a one step process. any script or automated way to accomplish this?

some of my DVD's do that :D

Anyway, I don't have any sync problems with my M6?

Maybe its actually the video file that causing it?

i tried the above method for some videos. It works.
But, i have problems for some video due to Variable Bitrate (VBR). How do i deal with this kind of problem?
