Warning!! - Dfu Tools

it seems that a lot of m6 owners (especially the new owners) think of the DFU tools as the ulitmate solution for all problems encountered with their m6.

the m6 freezes?? use DFU tools!
black screen but with clicking sound?? use DFU tools!
green screen?? use DFU tools!

on the contrary, the DFU tools should only be used as a LAST RESORT. when you have already tried every other solution out there (twice, even thrice) and still nothing can make your m6 work. the FAQ and the search function should help you with this.

i repeat USE THE DFU TOOLS ONLY AS A LAST RESORT, WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS. try ALL other available solutions twice, and even thrice, before using DFU.

if you do end up needing to use the DFU tools, read the instructions through, as many times as you need, before actually performing the procedure. again, FAQ and search are your best friends.

i hope my post will at least make you think twice about using DFU tools at the first sign of trouble. more often than not, reset will solve minor issues.

good luck to all and enjoy your m6!

Good advice, because DFU is not the solution for every problem.

while its true most problems can be fixed with a reset or something white screens due to wrong firmwares, white flashing screens etc can be fixed rather quickly with the DFU tools.
I messed up my player a few times and instead of fiddling around resetting it a billion times i DFU-ed it straight away and fixed the problem in 5 minutes

then again you should know when to use it. If your player is really stuck DFU is the most powerful tool at your disposal

The bit of software that can be used to reload the firmware to a player that doesn't function properly due to software errors

try the search option

i'm not an expert at dfu tools as i have never had the need to use it myself. :D i'm just saying, it seems that a lot of users think of the dfu tools as the "easy way" of fixing problems with the m6. and when they do decide to use it, they don't even bother to read through the procedures and follow them EXACTLY. as a result, we get a lot of threads with dfu tools-related problems. when in fact, some circumstances do not even require the use of the dfu tools.

very true
even in cases where DFU tools are needed people seem not to use the correctly...
I used the DFU tools a lot as I have an SP and TP player and tend to mix up the firmwares
DFU always helped me out fast but it will only do that if you use it they way its described
