I've spent the last bit, trying to adjust this in Virtual Dub - but the given solution is not working, nor do I suspect it would work as the audio is in sync on my PC - it's only when transferred to the device I see an issue. (I suspect it's a codec problem. To that end, I've tried several different codecs as well)
As to the specific programs, I've also tried vid convert, and SmartVD - both had additional problems as well. Smart VD gave a compressed screen ratio with no options to expand it.
Iriverter pretty much synchs the audio to the video, better than anything else, but it's still not perfect.
Badak seems a bit more promising - still not perfect, but hopefully I can get something acceptable.
I have to say I am somewhat disapointed, but I'm not giving up hope yet. I purchsed this mainly to let my kids watch video on the go. Fortunately, I ordered it from someone here in the states - JTC Electronics. I talked with them this morning, and they indicated that if I couldn't get it playing video acceptably, I could return it. So that's an option. Incidentally, I highly recommend them - it was shipped extremely fast, and he was a very nice gentleman to talk to over the phone.

i think the above poster is right - Video length has alot to do with it, so the solution may just be to break up longer videos into smaller files. I have had very little difficulty with videos 20 min or less, but I just put my first full length movie on my 8gb M6 and had the audio issues(I tried the video converter and VirtualDub, and the original video converter did a better job, but it still is unusable on this conversion). Unfortunately, that is the problem that all of these devices have(and computer technology in general), is that there are a lot of little quirks and video converting is not just one click and you go(I have used a number of video editing utilities and have about 6 loaded on my computer right now). Maybe thats why Ipods are so popular, Apple has made it simple, but you pay dearly for it, and that's what the nontechnical majority want - I personally like the ability to tweak things the way I want and not be restricted in what I can do, but I waste a lot of time too
