For the last 4 hours, I've been trying to get a decent port of an Mpeg2 video with varying levels of success. Using VdubMpeg2 as described elsewhere in this forum gave very smooth frame rates, but the audio consistently lagged behind the video - just enough to be majorly annoying.
I've spent the last bit, trying to adjust this in Virtual Dub - but the given solution is not working, nor do I suspect it would work as the audio is in sync on my PC - it's only when transferred to the device I see an issue. (I suspect it's a codec problem. To that end, I've tried several different codecs as well)
As to the specific programs, I've also tried vid convert, and SmartVD - both had additional problems as well. Smart VD gave a compressed screen ratio with no options to expand it.
Iriverter pretty much synchs the audio to the video, better than anything else, but it's still not perfect.
Badak seems a bit more promising - still not perfect, but hopefully I can get something acceptable.
I have to say I am somewhat disapointed, but I'm not giving up hope yet. I purchsed this mainly to let my kids watch video on the go. Fortunately, I ordered it from someone here in the states - JTC Electronics. I talked with them this morning, and they indicated that if I couldn't get it playing video acceptably, I could return it. So that's an option. Incidentally, I highly recommend them - it was shipped extremely fast, and he was a very nice gentleman to talk to over the phone.
