The player does play Xvid as advertised, certainly it could be better. But look at a lot of other players, including many more 'serious' DAP's that require you to convert using their own software to some obscure format, give me the Meizu method any day.

I was considering to buy a Meizu M8, but, after all the frustration with my M6, I will never buy another Meizu Product.

The Meizu does have an awful lot going for it, its an incredibly sexy device, it has an awesome screen on it, the UI is very competant (with just the bizare control layout change when playing videos).
I specifically bought the Meizu because of its ability to play Xvid which was initially a dissapointment, but once the software was setup, now I know to chop the movie length files into segments (a one click script on linux thankfully) and now I am pretty darned happy. Sure it would be nicer if the files played direct, with no conversion, no crop, no chop, but the player is so sweet in other ways I can now easily live with it.
I don't know how much time you put to it, but sometimes its worth putting up the odd hassle for the good of the whole, think living with some supermodel with PMS, 7days of hell for 21days of pure joy with an angel (assuming its not some superbitch

). Metaphor aside, the Meizu is a real nice device, it just has issues which hopefully Meizu is working on and given that updates are still coming I have little doubt that its not the case.
