MIUI team releases first open beta for the MX2!
Jun 14, 2013 - 2:38 PM - by HondaRacer
MIUI has decided it was finally time to officially release the MIUI V5 beta for the MX2 to the public. After more than a month of testing and 17 closed beta releases, it's now officially available for download. For those who don't have noticed, MIUI released the first closed beta on May 17. This beta was supposed to be not available to the public, but it quickly appeared online on different websites, including Meizu Me. MIUI for MX2 received mixed reviews, where some members said they preferred to use MIUI and others to use the stock firmware, Flyme 2.2, on their MX2s.
It's quite noteworthy that MIUI released their ROM for a Meizu device, considering the relation between these two companies. Furthermore, Smartisan OS is supposed to launch tomorrow (June 15), also for the Meizu MX2. We are very curious what this new ROM will bring, and will surely keep you up to date with more information and new releases.
You can download the MIUI V5 open beta from the link below or discuss it here in our forums.
Update: Smartisan OS was indeed released today, but only for the Samsung Galaxy S III i9300. They state on their website that they will release it for two other Samsung smartphones, the HTC One X and a Xiaomi smartphone. Unfortunately, they don't mention anything about a release for the Meizu MX2.
Update 2: Some Smartisan OS apps are already ported to the MX2!

New MX3 details
Jun 12, 2013 - 6:37 PM - by nnkos
As expected, Meizu is about to announce their new flagship, codenamed M055 and probably called MX3. Despite the announcement is only a few days away, we still have very few details about its specs and even less about its looks. The only information about its looks we have are some speculated images that are not officially confirmed as true. So, Meizu made a pretty good job on keeping this device "mysteriously secret".
Recently though, we had a leak about three dates on which Meizu is going to release something important:
- June 9: Meizu announced the expected MX2's price cut.
- June 13: Rumors about revealing further information about MX3 and Flyme 3.0 demonstration weren' t confirmed, even though J.Wong posted on the Chinese bbs that Meizu will not cooperate with China Mobile so a TD (and probably LTE) MX2 is abandoned.
- June 27: This will probably be the big day. Meizu will most likely officially reveal their new device to the public with a big demonstration conference which its exact location hasn't been confirmed yet.
Besides the MX3, Meizu is also about to introduce us their new operating system, FlyMe 3.0!
We assume that it will also be unveiled on June 27. Yesterday Meizu's soul J.Wong posted on the Chinese Meizu BBS a screenshot of FlyMe 3.0 (above picture). It's nothing fascinating; just a small taste of what the new icons will look like. But hey, it's still better than nothing!
So far, we and Kedros05, ex admin of Meizu News, expect the MX3 to come with the following specs:
- 5.1" (maybe even larger) Full HD screen
- Exynos 5 Octa
- 2GB RAM
- Super narrow bezel
- NFC (not officially confirmed)
- SD Card (not officially confirmed)
That's all we know for now, so let's wait until tomorrow (June 13) and see what they will reveal to us!

Update: Added screenshot of the new Music Player in post #19

Meizu attending to Mobile World Congress Barcelona
Feb 06, 2013 - 12:30 PM - by crimson05
"The GSMA Mobile World Congress is the combination of the world's largest exhibition for the mobile industry and a conference featuring prominent Chief Executives representing mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from across the world." -- Wikipedia
And Meizu is attending to it!
After the not-so-successful appearance on the CeBit in 2008 and years of focusing on mainland market, Meizu seems to begin to reach out for the world. This is the first time the MX2 is official presented to an international audience.
So if you can find the time, 25 - 28 February might be the biggest chance to get your hands on the MX2 and discuss it with the Meizu staff.
Full press release after the break.

OPPO Find 5 with five-inch 1080p display officially unveiled today in Beijing
Dec 12, 2012 - 9:12 AM - by nice2know_u
OPPO officially unveiled their 5-inch Find 5 smartphone today and brought as all the rumored specifications we have heard prior to the release and even more! It has the same 5" 1080p display that is found in the HTC Droid DNA and Butterfly with a screen border of 3.25 mm(!), Qualcomm's APQ8064 quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, and comes with quad-band 2G and penta-band 3G network support so in theory it should work in every country where they use the GSM standard. We now know the thickness of the phone is 8.8 mm at the center and slightly less towards the edges because the back is slightly curved. What's even more interesting is the camera but not only because it's using a 13 Megapixel CMOS sensor but it's also the world's first smartphone with hardware-enabled HDR support both for photos and video! It has an F2.2 aperture, blue glass filters and 120 FPS video recording capabilities! The 1.9 Megapixel front facing camera is not too shabby either. As far as connectivity goes we get WiFi (802.11a/b/g/n - 802.11n 2.4GHz and 5GHz), WiFi Direct, Wi-Fi Display, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS and DLNA. Another exciting feature is Dirac HD support which the included earphones are fine tuned for.
The phone is powered by a 2500 mAh battery, comes with a custom ROM based on Android 4.1 and is priced at ¥2998 (about 480 USD) and should be available in about a month!
Find photos of the device at the source link!
UPDATE: The dimensions of the device are: 141.8 x 68.8 x 8.86 mm and weighs about 165 g.
